Rick Perry: Beyond Texas DREAM Act and Gardasil-Gate

By admin

by Bob Eschliman

As an uncommitted voter in the Republican primary/caucus process, I’ve taken my responsibility as an Iowan seriously — probably more seriously than several of the presidential candidates, but I digress. I’ve been trying to vet the candidates, and unfortunately, I find many of the candidates offered on the GOP slate lacking. But, I know I’m not alone. Most Iowa Republicans seem disenfranchised with the 2012 crop. It’s easy to bash on the media-appointed frontrunner, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. His actions speak far louder than his rhetoric: he’s in favor of “partnership agreements” for homosexual couples — gay marriage, just by another name — and his “RomneyCare” program — by which “ObamaCare” was modeled — allows $50 copays for taxpayer-subsidized abortions. What is the Black-Robed Regiment?

By Rev. Cary K. Gordon

Below these opening comments I have posted an erudite historical article authored by David Barton, containing information in response to a call-in heckler on WHO radio today. If you are interested in the veracity of my public claims that Christians during both the Revolutionary and Civil War periods of history had far more reason to “give-up” on America than we do today, you may find this information very interesting.  In my opinion, every American, especially modern pastors,  should take a very thorough look at the history of the Black-Robed Regiment.

While the article may yet prove unsatisfactory to perfectly describe the scenario to which I extemporaneously referred while on the show, suffice it to say the exhaustive documentation below does provide tales of equal and greater horrors for one’s consideration. One caller brought-up that history tells us of a English soldier called “Bloody Banastre Tarleton” who was known to refuse “quarter” to captured “rebels.” (This meant anyone believed to be a rebel was killed regardless of surrender.) In August of 2010, Glen Beck mentioned the burning of many churches during the revolutionary period and also suggested that there was an occasion where people were killed in those flames. This was mentioned during a largely televised event.

Specifically, Bloody Banastre Tarleton was nothing short of a butcher during the revolution. From what I understand he was known to burn barns, homes and churches alike. This was a more common act than some would like to admit. One source records a “six day period the British set the towns of New Haven, Fairfield, Westport and Norwalk ablaze. At least five (5) churches, two hundred ninety-five (295) houses, one hundred fifty-three (153) barns and a significant number of stores, shops, mills and vessels were torched by British troops.” Obviously, to burn down a home or barn or other structure, particularly if Red-Coat troops believed rebels to be inside them, made sense in the heat of battle. With that said, while it is very likely that Tarleton personally burned churches, the question of whether or not he personally burned  a church with people inside, remains in dispute. I digress.

For those who do not have time to read the entire historical context of Pastor-led revolutionary battle, I would like to highlight one particular statement from within the article (a short version) most germane to this discussion. As you will see carefully documented, there was hostility (yet still untold) against American pastors and their churches. Pastors were DEFINITELY KILLED and their churches were DEFINITELY BURNED! The brief excerpt reads as follows: “…No wonder the British dubbed the patriotic American clergy the “Black Regiment.” But because of their strong leadership, ministers were often targeted by the British. Where are America’s “Children of Issachar”?

By admin

by Tom Hoefling

And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment. – I Chronicles 12:32 (KJV), (written as David was given the administration of the nation of Israel).

In America, the elections of 2012 are a transition election. Our country is in a transition period. God knows what it is we are transitioning to. Time will tell. But, before we examine that, let’s step back a century and a half: In the America of the1850s it’s doubtful that many understood what was just ahead. In any generation foresight and true leadership are rare commodities. And as the Scripture says: “Where there is no vision My people perish.” – Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Read The Entire Article…

10th Anniversary of 9-11, The Three Stooges of Polity, & The Threat of Islam’s Sixth Pillar

By Rev. Cary K. Gordon

“This case,” the judge wrote, “will proceed under Ecclesiastical Islamic Law.” So said Circuit Judge Richard Nielsen of Tampa, Florida, in March of 2011.[i] A re-read of the classical Roman poet’s (Publius Vergilius Maro) Latin epic, “The Aeneid,” which describes the legendary tale of the “Trojan Horse,” is in order!

Ongoing attempts within this free nation to systematically introduce Islamic “Kadhis Courts” (which is the Islamic pre-cursor to Sharia Law), under the guise of “religious freedom,” threatens the American justice system and, as a result, all American liberties. Read The Entire Article…

“All of My Sins are Forgiven” and other Lies…

By admin

by Cal Zastrow

Here’s the top ten lies I was told recently: 1. “All of my sins are forgiven.” 2. “I am a Christian.” 3. “God forgives. I’m okay.” 4. “I’m saved, and I go to church every Sunday.” 5. “The Bible says not to judge.” 6. “I’m praying for you, too.” 7. “So what? No sin is bigger than any other sin.” 8. “We’ll repent later.” 9. “I’m going to jail if you don’t shut up!” 10. “We’re fine. Our choice is between us and God.”

These statements were made to me while my family and I were evangelizing on the sidewalk in front of the last remaining surgical abortuary in Mississippi. They all came from mothers and fathers who were murdering their preborn children. Other lies were told: “It’s not a person yet.” “What I do doesn’t affect anybody else.” Read The Entire Article…

Living in Bizzaro

By admin

By Rev. Tim Ginter

Trustee, PeaceMakers Institute

Just this morning a friend of mine told me of the upside down world Superman occasionally found himself trapped in. An alternate time space continuum, “Htrea”, (Earth spelled backwards) was the intentional and purposeful opposite of earth.

In this world, gold and diamonds lay in the gutters, while coal, cigarette butts and gobs of chewed gum were priceless.

Later, as I read the news release about Happy Time Daycare in Waulkee, Iowa, I couldn’t help but think of Htrea. Read The Entire Article…

Violence in the Sanctuary

By admin

Author

What should the Christian response be to radical hate?  What is the church to do when the security and safety of the sanctuary is attacked by a group whose mission is to instill fear in anyone who opposes their agenda?

This is not an esoteric question.  Unfortunately, it is a question that all churches must consider.  We live in a world where the Christian message is hated.  Christians worldwide are facing persecution because they adhere to the life-giving message of Jesus, and want to share that message with others.  Some face death for aligning with Christ.

In America, the heat is being turned up on Christians, and our sanctuaries are not off-limits. Read The Entire Article…

Can Church Schools Hire Teachers Who Share Church Beliefs?

By admin

Author

Most would agree that a church should be able to open a school to ensure that its children get an education that conforms with its religious teachings.  It follows that a church should be able to employ only those teachers who actually agree with its religious principles and apply them to their lives.  But this important aspect of religious freedom is now under attack, and its fate rests in the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Last year, a church school in Redford, Michigan, was dealt a blow to its independence from government control by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  Hosanna-Tabor is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and operates a church and school. Read The Entire Article…

An Open Letter on the Role of Women in Ministry and Government

By Rev. Cary K. Gordon

Friends,

As the pastor of a Neo-Pentecostal/Charismatic church in the year 2011, having friends who are members of many different brands of the Christian faith, there is often a “white elephant” in the room concerning the proper role of women in the New Testament church program, (particularly when my friends realize, for the first time, that we have ordained women into ministry and refer to two associate pastors on our staff as “Pastor Eileen” and “Pastor Donna.”

Politically and socially, we Americans have seen great distortions in the proper role of the sexes, over the last fifty years, and unfortunately, in response to our culture’s overt feminization of men and symbiotic masculinization of women, it seems we have (to borrow a line from Jesus) leaped from one ditch to another. When I was approached by a long-time member of my church last year, who was asking how to explain this issue to a newer member of our fold (from a Baptist background), I decided I would go ahead and share our doctrinal position on the subject with those who may have wondered about our stand and perhaps felt awkward asking about it. Personally, as you’ll see below, this much work deserves a larger audience than one person (chuckling) so you have been “copied-in.”

My thoughts are, as you might expect, very settled. I hope that you would consider their merit, if you have the time. Should you decide to read on, I do ask one thing of you: if, while reading, you find yourself tempted to get offended, please remind yourself that I didn’t write this explanation to you, personally; I wrote it to a lady named Karen who is a member of my church.

Naturally, I believe our position on this subject, and the methods we use to interpret the scripture, as well as the way we conduct ordinations, is acceptable and pleasing to the Lord, but the purpose of sharing this correspondence is for none other than sharing “why we do what we do at Cornerstone Church.” I would hope to accomplish two things through this:

1) Present a differing view that we believe is correct, with the hope that some who read this might make an adjustment to their own former view.

2) Demonstrate the truth that while some churches may be cavalier with the formation of their doctrines, we are not.

You are, of course, free to pass this along to whomever you wish. The information is not private – as I have changed the names in the correspondence to protect the innocent.

Blessings,

Pastor Cary Gordon Read The Entire Article…

The Purposeful Flooding of America’s Heartland

By Rev. Cary K. Gordon

by Joe Herring

The Missouri River basin encompasses a vast region in the central and west-central portion of our country.  This river, our nation’s longest, collects the melt from Rocky Mountain snowpack and the runoff from our continents’ upper plains before joining the Mississippi river above St. Louis some 2,300 miles later.  It is a mighty river, and dangerous.

Some sixty years ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) began the process of taming the Missouri by constructing a series of six dams.  The idea was simple: massive dams at the top moderating flow to the smaller dams below, generating electricity while providing desperately needed control of the river’s devastating floods. Declaring Independence from God: A Very Bad Idea

By Rev. Cary K. Gordon

by Dr. Gary DeMar

After the defeat of Hitler’s Third Reich, war crime tribunals were set up in Nuremberg, Germany. The purpose, of course, was to judge those who had participated in the grossest of atrocities, the planned extermination of the Jewish race. John Warwick Montgomery explains the problem the tribunal faced:

When the Charter of the Tribunal, which had been drawn up by the victors, was used by the prosecution, the defendants very logically complained that they were being tried by ex post facto laws; and some authorities in the field of international law have severely criticized the allied judges on the same ground. It is the Home which Decides a Nation

By admin

By Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

The disturbance of the family life in America is more desperate than at any other period in our history. The family is the barometer of the nation. What the average home is, that is America. If the average home is living on credit, spending money lavishly, running into debt, then America will be a nation which will pile national debt on national debt, until the day of the Great Collapse.

If the average husband and wife are not faithful to their marriage vows, then America will not insist on fidelity to the Atlantic Charter or any other pact, and the Four Freedoms. Read The Entire Article…

Sacrifice, Guilt And Giving Back – The Three Stooges Of Leftist Politics

By admin

By Howard Jacobs

There are phrases and ideas that are often accepted without question. The notion that people need to ‘give back to society’ is uttered by many people who have been successful. Athletes and actors have often expressed this idea when establishing some charity or fund that helps the communities they grew up in. While giving to charity or setting up an organization that helps people is a noble cause, there is an inherent illogic and dangerous precedent in the phrase ‘giving back to the community’. The day before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s invitation to the White House for peace talks, several media outlets report that on May 19, “Obama tells Israel” to return to its pre-1967 borders before the Arab-Israeli war. Can the Tea-Party Save America?

By admin

By Rev. Tim Ginter – Trustee on the Board of PeaceMakers Institute

A week ago Monday, my wife and I visited the local chapter of the TEA Party movement here in North Central Florida. It was an impressive gathering.

They meet every week and average 300 + people in their meetings. They are well organized, extremely active, and highly influential. When the current Florida Governor was running for office he took the time to answer the questions of these citizens for nearly 3 hours. When Sarah Palin came to the area to speak in 2008, she attracted the largest crowd in the presidential campaign, with approximately 70,000 people in attendance!

The TEA Party movement has been one of the most successful grass roots political organizations ever created in the history of the United States. Read The Entire Article…

The Studied Irrelevance of American Foreign Missions

By admin

By Bojidar Marinov

Over a year ago, in my article, “I Am not a Social Reformer, I Am Here to Preach the Gospel,” I gave a quite radical example of a missionary in Amazonia to illustrate my point about the necessity of a comprehensive worldview in the beliefs and the practice of a missionary. Of course, the example was only hypothetical. Obviously, no missionary in the Amazonian jungles would be silent in the face of obviously idolatrous or barbarian practices, whether they are presented as pure idolatry or as “social practices.” In general, Christian missionaries to simple backwards societies are able to see the idolatrous origin of most of the social practices and work to change them in accordance with the Bible. You seldom hear the words, “I am not a social reformer,” from a missionary deep in the jungles. Read The Entire Article…

Higher Law vs. Horizontal Law

By admin

By Dr. Gary DeMar

The Constitution states that it is “the supreme law of the land” (Art. 6). This can’t mean that it is the supreme moral law of the land since there is very little of what we think of moral law in it. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land only in terms of what powers are actually enumerated in the document itself. If the Constitution does not address a topic, it has no authority over it and therefore does not carry the validity of “supreme law.” The Constitution assumes an existing body of moral law.
